In October 2025, Nico started a community-driven project called Foster Book Club.

Foster Book Club’s mission is to get books with foster care representation into the hands of kids in foster care.
We do that in two ways:
- By providing a book discovery website. At www.fosterbookclub.org, readers, caregivers and supporters can find children’s books that feature characters who are in foster care or are not living with their bio parents — or books with themes of found family or resilience, which resonate with the foster care experience.

- By providing a book donation opportunity. At www.fosterbookclub.org/donate, members of the community can view our Amazon wishlist to purchase children’s books with foster care representation. Those books are shipped directly to Foster Book Club. And we partner with San Diego foster family agencies and organizations, who get those book donations delivered directly to kids in foster care.
If you or someone you know are connected to the foster care community, please check out Foster Book Club’s curated list of children’s books with foster care representation at www.fosterbookclub.org.
